Journal 8

So we have really been doing a lot in this class. Our annotative bibliographies were due today and we have been working on our group projects. My group chose to do the shuttle and we have been working on our projects in class. We had to observe the shuttle, which went very well. I found a lot of things out about the people that go to Ball State just be riding the shuttle. We also have interviews that have to be done by the Thursday that we come back from break. As a group we came up with about nine questions that ask about various aspects of the shuttle. We will be meeting as a group once we get back to work on our PowerPoint and get the survey done. This should be a fun project to get our minds off of our research papers. We will all be taking 5 pictures for our projects and selecting from them which ones that will be put on our PowerPoint. This should be a great project to do.

Last time in class we started discussing our group projects and my group picked the Ball State Shuttle System. I have only ridden the shuttle once or twice but I am excited about this group project. I believe that this group project will help with different ways of getting information about a certain topic. I think it is a good idea to have a group project in the middle of the class to get our minds off of our research projects. Chapter 11 should be a great help on our projects because we have to have interviews and observations in our presentations. Chapter 11 goes into detail about how to collect information from interviews, observations, and surveys. Chapter 12 talks about how to organize the information that you find and how to save it. It also talks about how to create a bibliography which is handy because we are writing annotative bibliographies.

Journal 6

In class last time we did a great activity that let us see different ways to view a website. I learned that not all websites can be trusted because they may have false information on them. I also learned that you can not always trust what you see in the media and if you take a little bit of time to check out the people that back the media advertisement. We also went over our annotative bibliographies and learned that I need to add a few more things to my paper. It also helps to evaluate a website because you learn so much information than if you just look at the website and assume that you know what is going on. Chapter nine talks about how to search for information with electronic sources and how to use the information that you got from the source. Chapter ten talks about searching for information within a printed source and how you use the many different sources in the library. With using all the things that I have learned from class and the book I am sure that I will be able to get done with my annotative bibliography.

Journal 5

Annotated Bibliography is our next assignment and going to the library for the help session and I feel like it made the research process a little easier. With the information that he gave us I can now go to the library and get some of my research done a little faster than I have before. Chapter 8 in the book also gave me some good advice on how to look at different sources and how to use them for the best. The next assignment should be a little more difficult because we have to have so many sources but I do not for see having any problems with getting it done.

Journal 4

After having our conferences and having a whole week to write my Topic proposal is coming along great. I don't see there being any problem anymore trying to get 4 pages for my paper. With the paper being due on Tuesday I just hope that I can get all of my thoughts down and get them across in a good paper. I have not used anymore resources than the four that I started with but I should be able to get what I need out of them for this paper and then maybe later have more.

Topic Proposal

I am writing my paper over exercise psychology. I am not really sure how I am going to get my topic proposal to be 4 pages long. I guess I will figure it out eventually. I only have three books as of right now but I have gotten many more things off the Internet. I just hope that I can figure this paper out before it needs to be turned in.

I would be interested in researching exercising for sports and how it benefits the athletes not only physically but also mentally. How exercising on a daily basis cab improve your physical conditioning as well as your mental conditioning.

So this is my first blog ever just so everyone knows.
I believe that our English class will be pretty smooth sailing as long as we go by what is on the syllabus. The stuff that we went over in class made it easier to understand what all we were going to be doing in class. Okay, first blog is done!
